Relocation counselling & advisory · London
Landing on your feet in a new place
LandWell is a counselling and advisory service for people moving to London, United Kingdom.
It begins while you are still considering the move, and brings together practical guidance and therapeutic support for the part of relocation nobody hands you a checklist for.
The move
The move that looks solved from the outside
Relocation is usually treated as a logistics problem. The visa is granted, and from the outside the hard part is behind you. But where you will live, and where your children will go to school, or you will recreate your social life, are not logistics. They are the amongst the decisions that will shape your daily life here for years, and they are almost always made under time pressure and with incomplete information. These are exactly the decisions I can help you think through, before they harden into facts you have to live with.
Which is why LandWell starts earlier than most people expect. Not on the day you land, but in the months when you are still weighing the offer, still working out what the move will cost the people you love, still deciding whether to go at all. I work with people who have already arrived too, but the earlier we begin the more of the ground you get to choose.
What remains after the logistics is harder to name. You have left a place where you were known, where your accent carried no weight and you could walk into a room and be read correctly within seconds. All of that has to be rebuilt at the exact moment you have least energy for it. Most people expect that difficulty in the first month and it rarely comes then. The quieter reckoning arrives once the boxes are unpacked, everyone else has moved on, and the question is no longer what do I need to do but who am I here.
There is often a shame attached to struggling with a move that was chosen, planned and, from most angles, fortunate. Many people arrive apologising for feeling anything other than grateful. That apology is usually the first thing worth putting down.
